Summer is here and even if you home school, summer means life changes. One thing we love here in Michigan is our time up north, but travel can mean more than just a weekend get away.
Traveling is one of those things that may take require a lot of planning, time and money, but it becomes all worth it at the end. There’s nothing like going to a foreign country, soaking up a new culture, appreciating the different sites, and of course, trying the new cuisine.
When you go to a new country, whether with your family and friends, or just you traveling alone, it is also a time when you are faced with new challenges that can make you a better person. You not only become educated about new things but if you meet obstacles along the way, you learn to become flexible and face problems head on.
Give yourself a new challenge in the next few months and schedule a time for you to travel. It’s guaranteed that you will be making unforgettable memories that will stay with you for the rest of your life. If you are not sure where to go, here are four places you must not miss going to. They are all magical and will bring you lasting memories.
- See the Northern Lights in Michigan or Iceland – Iceland is fast becoming one of the most popular destinations in the past years. If you are looking for majestic views of mountains, ice caves, and volcanoes, all of them can be found in Iceland. But another reason to go there is to witness one of nature’s most spectacular phenomena. Seeing the Northern Lights should be on everyone’s travel bucket list. Head on over to Þingvellir National Park to have a glimpse of aurora borealis.
If you decide to check them out in the Continental US, then don’t miss out on northern Michigan, including the Upper Peninsula.
- Galapagos Island – another destination that should be on everyone’s traveler’s list, this archipelago is found 620 miles off the coast of Ecuador. It boasts of around 19 islands filled with unique wildlife and greenery. The landscape is vast, with parts of the island flaunting peaceful beaches while another part has active volcanoes. Don’t forget to visit the tortoise reserve and go diving to see what both land and sea has to offer.
- Machu Picchu – seeing it from pictures does not give justice to how interesting and majestic this ancient site is. Translated as “old mountain”, this citadel is 500 years old and stands more than 7000 above sea level. Found in Peru, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is busiest during July and August so you need to plan ahead to make sure that you are maximizing your time there. Just be ready for a hike so if you are not used to climbing, you can prepare for the trip by making sure you are physically fit for the trek.
- Camber Sands – if you’re looking for a place that’s more of an unspoiled beach, then you don’t need to leave the UK as Camber Sands is the perfect place to relax. Unlike other tourist destinations that have specific months where they are most beautiful, Camber Sands is a perfect destination all year round. Aside from the beach, other activities that travelers can enjoy include kitesurfing and other water activities as well.
Travel can help you not only explore new places, you can also learn a lot about yourself.
